Connie Smith impersonating Loretta Lynn singing "Once a Day". Both artist recorded this song, but Connie's version was the longest running #1 for any female in the history of country music. I'm playing pedal steel on this impromptu version.
Connie was the CMA Female Vocalist of the Year three years in a row. . She's also won a room full of Grammys. She's married to my hero, Marty Stuart
I've never heard the Loretta Lynn version, always bee a Connie Smith song to me.

What's all this #1 crap about? Brenda Lee never had a #1 country hit and there she is in the CMHF.
Connie has plied her trade for a long time has many memorable recordings, zillions of fans and is a credit to the music business. Her time is coming.

"Once a Day" is a song written by Bill Anderson and recorded as the debut single by American country artist Connie Smith. It was produced by Bob Ferguson for her self-titled debut album. The song was released in August 1964, topping the Billboard country music chart for eight weeks between late 1964 and early 1965.[1] It was the first debut single by a female country artist to reach number one, and to date holds the record for the most weeks spent at number one by a female country artist.

@jkingsmill Your facts need to be checked. I think Tammy was the one with a single the longest on the charts and that was Stand by Your man

@jkingsmill ... c'mon now, you know I aint hatin' on Miss Connie. She's such a lovely lady - for real! I'm just sayin', she wasn't a Loretta Lynn, Tammy Wynette, Lynn Anderson or Dolly .... still only had ONE #1 hit, no matter how you try to dress it up. Kudos to her for still singing her one hit, 50 years later. Gotta give it to her! :-)

@clapolla - Fact - she was the first female country female to have her first single to go to #1 and is the female with longest running #1 single to date (eight weeks). Now I will agree she is not maybe up to the Super Star Status of Loretta, Dolly, Tammy, and Patsy, but she has her place in country music history. Even Jean Sheppard got into the Country Music Hall of Fame. It may take her a little longer, but Connie will get there. Quit hatin' on Connie.
