LG Blu-ray HD-DVD drive start up

This is a view from the inside of an LG GGC-H20L BD-Rom CD/DVD-RW drive. The drive attempts to establish if a disc is present twice. Order: Blu-ray/HD-DVD (blue-violet laser), CD (infra-red laser) and DVD (red laser). Notice also the sensor near the spindle used when writing Lightscribe discs.

Sorry for the up and down shake; this is due to motion compensation electronics in the camera. Its an annoying artifact that results from a moving object being filmed against a still background while the camera itself is perfectly sill (the camera assumes to movement is the camera moving up and down)
