Here's a Scottish folk song about flowers and a lassie. Sorry about the crackling and generally questionable audio quality --- it was all done with the webcam.

Lyrics:

Oh, the summer time has come
And the trees are sweetly blooming
The wild mountain thyme
Grows around the blooming heather

*
Will ye go, lassie, go?
And we'll all go together
To pull wild mountain thyme
All around the blooming heather
Will ye go, lassie, go?

I will build my love a bower
By yon pure crystal fountain
And around it I will place
All the flowers of the mountain

(*)

I will range through the wilds
And the deep glen sae dreamy
And return with our spoils
To the bower, oh, my dearie

If my true love e'er should leave
I will surely find another
To pull wild mountain thyme
Growing 'round the blooming heather

(*)

  • You sang that beautifully. The guitar and your voice merged together just right. My taste exactly. Happy holidays to you.

    Kind of you. Thanks.

  • I've never heard that third verse. I love it when I come across new verses to songs I know :) And this is a really nice version. You've got a nice touch on the guitar, too.

  • Very talented ! And lovely song too !
