Yes, it really works, at least on the PC version of the game. Few pieces of advice though: you need to have dozens of medipacks to heal Lara while swimming towards the switch cave. Once you get there, all you need to do is to wait... and wait... and wait for at least 15 minutes for a centaur to commit suicide. It really works, try it!

ok, you have a little bug in your game. Possible solutions: reduce your screen resolution in Options > Display Mode, to 800x600. And also, turn off Fullscreen Effects, Fullscreen Antialiasing, Depth of Field (Options > Display). That should help Lara grab the edge of stairs. Then try to grab it. Good Luck! Guys, if you can't kill these two beasts, and you don't mind cheating, here's a solution: as soon as the fight begins, draw your weapons until you target one centaur. Then quickly run toward the water, jump in and quickly swim down into the tunnel with the switch. Get out from the water near the switch, and wait for the first centaur to commit suicide. Then you need to deal with only one centaur, and you'll also find a shield that the first centaur left behind. Good luck!
