inoubliable interprétation superbe !

Nel 1968 Puyana suonava molto meglio, ma l'Hass del 1990 è migliore del Pleyel.

Prefiero la versión del 68

For me this is the definitive version. I like the reprise of the introduction -- most others don't do that. It is like a time warp, a better feeling than the abrupt ending most others do.
The 1968 recording was very different -- interestingly different voicing, no reprise. On the jacket, Puyana said that just because music is old, it need not wear a wig. In this 1990 recording, he put the wig back on it, and gave it this richer sound.

My favorite performance of the Fandango too although Ross did a fantastic job too.
Absolute anchor for all music Great performer, great instrument, great way of recording the sound.Sometimes everything fall in place and it definitely is with this performance

Rafael Puyana was born in 1931 Bogotà (Columbia). He studied piano at the Boston Conservatoire and was the last pupil of the french-polish Wanda Landowska, the pioneer of the harpschord playing renew in the modern time. Now he lives in Paris.
He recorded twice this fandango by Padre Antonio Soler.
1°) Vinyl disc Philips (5838 433), 1968 on a modern harpsichord Pleyel (I purchased this one).
2°) CD l'Oiseau Lyre (417 341-2), 1990 on a historical harpsichord by H-A Hass (1740)., posted here.

Je vous remercie bien, Monsieur! Huzzah! My fave rendition of Soler's immortal Fandango. Vive Puyana!
Pupil of Wanda Landowska, he is a top artist but was not keen to sit voor recordings.
Does somebody know where I can find some information about the Goja picture? (first one).
