CPO DCO Datuk Wira Ayub Yaakub was attending a meeting with the Penang Public Order and Safety Council at Komtar with the state government top officials. He also announced to the press some initiatives taken by the police such as:
1) Learning of Hokkien language so that the police force has a closer rapport with Penangites who speak Hokkien.

2) Working with the community to provide a more conducive areas for youths to hangout

3) Enforcement on beach boys menace as tourists and visitors have complained of being harassed by them.

4) Enforcement on heavy vehicles which ply the right lanes on the bridge

5) Improve their command of the English language as Penang has a lot of investors and tourists

Datuk Wira Ayub also announced that for the first six months of 2010, crime index has reduced by 17.3%.

Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng congratulates the police force for this commendable achievement of crime reduction and said 'We must not only be safe, but also feel safe".
