Here is Silent Film Star Shirley Mason (1900-1979) talking about Christmas in Hollywood in 1923 on Special Issue Gennett Record. In this old news clipping from it 1923 it says: GREAT GENNETT SELLER.
The Gennett Christmas Greeting records were
among the biggest sellers in records in the week be-
fore Christmas . The "Ten Gifts That Actually Speak
Your Christmas Greetings " as the advertising so
aptly announced, offered a choice that was considered
a boon by a vast number of holiday shoppers. In
them the holiday spirit was voiced by famous authors,
humorists and stage folk. The ten greeting records
included numbers by Bebe Daniels, William Jen-
nings Bryan, Wilbur D. Nesbit, Kin Hubbard, Sid
Smith (Andy Gump), Meredith Nicholson, Shirley
Mason and Mitzi Hajos

  • According to your video description Shirley Mason died at the age of 23. According to my quick research, the year was 1979.

  • You are correct. I was aware of that date, but forgot to proof read my typing of the information. I have made the correction. Thanks for the head up !!

  • How interesting! This must have been a wonderful thing to listen to on a Christmas morning, when she was starring in films.

  • I'd like to hear a mainstream movie actress of today speak as elegantly as Shirley. Where's the charm gone?
