  • dose any body free climb anymore, my company just caught on to the buck squeeze all the new guys have to use it but its comming for the rest of us I am afraid.

  • The bucksqeeze is the most commonly used and a lot of companies are now adopting it. It takes alittle practice but after you learn how it works you will find it wont slow you down. I learned free climbing but now use the bucksqeeze or the hitch hiking method. If it saves just one life its worth it in my opinion. I also have a responsibility to lead the way for my apprentices and since the industry is going the way of the Bucksqeeze I figured that I would start using it.

  • You guys are all awesome, how can we not love this trade!

  • they use a double safety. Alot of companies are now looking at or have gone to 100% attachment. One of the most recent is PG&E here in CA which is one of the largest IOU's in the country

  • Who wants to be a lineman WHOA!!

  • i know san diego almost $43/hr and a lot of double time $80+ an hr

  • san diego almost $43/hr plus tons of double time ($80 + an hr)

  • A lot. Southern California Edison pays about $41/hr for journeymen. Tons of overtime (and doubletime) too - top earners can break the $300k a year barrier. Los Angeles pays about $43 an hour.

From who I have talked to, it's not easy at all. In fact it's really hard work. Hard to get into as well.

  • Anyone know how much money you make in california being a lineman>

    ?

  • I am a lineman in finland:)

  • I'm a linesman from the uk, does anyone have any info or websites addresses that i could look at for jobs in the US?

  • It is going to be an ohsa requirement that free climbing will be banned...bucksqueeze is going to be required soon and it is really safe..once u get used to it, its not that bad
