san diego almost $43/hr plus tons of double time ($80 + an hr)

A lot. Southern California Edison pays about $41/hr for journeymen. Tons of overtime (and doubletime) too - top earners can break the $300k a year barrier. Los Angeles pays about $43 an hour.
From who I have talked to, it's not easy at all. In fact it's really hard work. Hard to get into as well.

The bucksqeeze is the most commonly used and a lot of companies are now adopting it. It takes alittle practice but after you learn how it works you will find it wont slow you down. I learned free climbing but now use the bucksqeeze or the hitch hiking method. If it saves just one life its worth it in my opinion. I also have a responsibility to lead the way for my apprentices and since the industry is going the way of the Bucksqeeze I figured that I would start using it.

they use a double safety. Alot of companies are now looking at or have gone to 100% attachment. One of the most recent is PG&E here in CA which is one of the largest IOU's in the country
