Fast Object Tracking in C using OpenCV library.

PseudoCode:
(For each frame)
1. Capture frame
2. Extract objects of certain color (red in this case)
3. Flood-fill all detected blobs, keeps track of center locations
4. Export center of largest detected blob to live feed

Code tracks images with run time of about 9-30 ms per frame.

*** I am NOT a programmer. I have a degree in Aerospace Engineering ***

I will eventually use this code to track objects from a UAV for velocity and location metrics. Anyone interested in collaborating, drop a line here.

  • hi, I'm working on a VR total immersion project. I'd love to see and borrow some of the code to use as an "input"...

    good work!

  • @bartito677

I'm putting a bunch of stuff up on a blog pretty soon here, I'll post to let everyone know its up. Once you see it, let me know if you have any more questions. I'm currently working on an autoturret project using optical flow, i'll post the src for that as well.

  • Can you give us you source code to this program?

  • @prv102 Of course, let me know where to send it. Its a piece of crap (i have worked on about 10 better versions since) but I can give you source code to those as well if interested. Just curious, what are you using it for?

  • how long did it take you to write this program using open CV and C

  • @channer2k3 I already have C and C++ experience to some extent, and then putting in about an hour or 2 a day for a week, I was able to write the above program. If I had to redo it now, I could probably write this is less than 30 min from scratch, as the final version is barely 200 lines of code. I have source code available if you'd like to see it.

  • Can you send me your best enhanced source codes and the solution? im using it for school project. (Singapore)

  • Could you please send me the code?

  • can i have a look at the latest source ? even i have something similar in mind , just completed my Ardupilot mega UAV.

  • Hello Rurrik, would you please share you source with me? I am working on a augmented reality project for educational purposes, but since i'm from engineering background as well, i was planning to use the tracking code i was writing on something like you described (but no for UAV's 'a priori') and would love to help you out.

I do have a tracking code which i am working on (poor performance so far), and yours would greatly help me out.

btw my email is edumlopes at gmail.

  • hey can i have the source code too? thx.

  • Hi, i would like to take a copy, could you upload the file code to a public site? I gave you 5 stars
