Sow Flo Nursing Piglets Winter

Flo is a sow in of our herd of pastured pigs here at Sugar Mountain Farm in the mountains of Vermont. This is Flo nursing her newborn piglets she farrowed the night before. She is in a open shed in a winter garden paddock near our kitchen door so I get to listen to her song of nursing and the chorus line of piglets.

Flo weighs approximately 600 lbs and is an excellent mother. She and her sisters Flip and Flop are from Big Pig, one of our original sows.

Thank you for sharing this! This may be the closest many city children ever come to real, farm life. Seeing Flo relax while her milk flows to feed her eager piglets says God is good and NAIS is evil.
