Beautiful and moving lied about the effects of a Mermaid's singing, sung by Diana Damrau.

In my opinion she's the right person to sing this... ;)

I knew this version of the song not before. I find it very beautiful. The beginning and the piano sounds like Schuberts"s Erlkönig. I love also very much Der Erlkönig.

This was a welcome surpise.Really one of her better compositions.She has none of the flights of imagination as her husband but he was a genius and she prolly had a more conventional mind from what her letters reveal to Brahms .she believed in "behaving" .I would love to know what Beethoven and Chopin she played. I feel Mendellssohn is ignored fro the exact reasons he was adored in his time.
