CENTRAL SAANICH - The Saanich School Board says its forced to make major cuts to try and balance the budget.
Chair Helen Parker say over 3.4 million dollars need to be shaved, meaning jobs will be lost, and support for students trimmed.
Minister of Education, Margaret MacDiarmid says the district wasnt given more money in the last budget because enrollment has declined by 14%.
Student services that may be affected include library staffing, special needs instruction, and administration.
The school board is holding a public forum about where the cuts should be made on Wednesday April 21st, at 7 pm, at Bayside Middle School in Brentwood Bay.
