Don't know about the variety shows but I did read that he wanted to stop doing so much TV; that it would be overexposure.
He said Madonna overexposed herself...in more ways than one, I guess LOL. Fans get tired of you if you are in their face all the time.

Everytime I see Don't Stop You Get Enough, I remember that MJ was my first tv memory and I fell in love with him as a 3 year old. I told my mother when I was 5, I wanted to marry MJ. I remember even being in love with Vanessa's boyfriend Robert from the Cosby show because he reminded me of MJ. Ah the good old days...LOL

@chuneeh08 I disagree, a mother only knows 1 side of her children. & seeing Janet calling MJ a drug addict on tv is something uncharacteristic of MJ. I can't imagine MJ helping the defense if it was Janet that died.
