  • I only use the xl1s for sketch videos, I now have access to Red-one camera systems, but for the money, i would just stick to the xl1s, rather than the x2, neither are HD, another option is to get a HD camcorder and stick a 35mm adapter on the end of it! easier said than done!

  • I hear the red-one camera's are really good, is that true?

  • they are in a completely different league! 4x HD and it doesnt end there, just look them up on here. Hopefully i will be working with them soon :)

  • Really nice piece mate, impressed, I have the xlh1 nice cameras. How do you achieve that blown out effect? it seems to be animated, I have been trying to reproduce the effect but cant work it out in fcp. :)

  • the effects were very basic, simply experiment with increasing light/contrast..softness, and the gaussian blur effects, mix and match and you will eventually find something you like, thanks for your comment i hope i have helped answer your Q. :)

  • I understand you used the canon xl1s, which filters or lens adapters did you use? as i'm looking to do a very similar project as part of my own portfolio :) - thanks.

  • @MATT2productions

Yeah they are fantastic but at a price tag of $25K they are for the serious "I am going to make a career out of movies" types.

  • @mezzanineh15 I wish I had access to a Red. I love my XL1s though, for the money it really cannot be beat. Then again neither can the Red.

  • Wow, you really know how to use this camera well!

  • Its amazing, even though we have HD and yes the R3D systems which are amazing yes... the old analog systems are STILL by far the most aesthetically pleasing for artist. IMO anywho.

  • @MATT2productions They start at about 25x the price!

  • @thecultguy Thx. Shot on a single Canon 7D @ 720/60p. W/ the stock 28-135mm (f3.5-5.6), a Canon 50mm (f1.8), and cheap Digital Optics 72mm 0.5x wide converter (for the 28-135mm). Transcoded to ProRes 422 & cut in FCP. Had to conform the 60p into 24p with Cinema Tools to get the smooth slo-mo. However, the light board was the star, and our only source of light for most of the indoor sequences. Really easy to make, and hard to shoot anything bad using it.

    Hope that helps.

  • @endfallow nice! what did you use to film your video?

  • @mezzanineh15 or just simply get a DSLR camera with full HD lol! funny how technology evolve...

  • Fell in love with this video two'plus years ago. Finally got around to making an homage. Posted as a video response. Thanks for the inspiration.
