How 'Pro-Choice' are Democrats?

The official Democratic Party platform "strongly and unequivocally supports Roe v. Wade and a woman's right to make decisions regarding her pregnancy, including a safe and legal abortion, regardless of ability to pay."

Reason TV talked with Democratic delegates and supporters at the 2012 Democratic National Convention in Charlotte and found that most were on board with the party's strong pro-choice stance. But when pressed to talk about whether or not they were pro-choice in areas of human activity beyond abortion, delegates and supporters seemed less certain and, at times, outright hostile to the notion of increased choice.

Does a woman get pregnant by herself? I don't think so. Why doesn't the father have a say? What about the baby, not fetus, but the baby? There is adoption, as well. If you aren't willing to face the consequences of having sex, DON'T do it!

Instead, an abortion has to be paid for by the patient herself in general - except for cases of rape and incest, where the woman can be compensated by funds from Medicaid since 1994. Also no other person is harmed by performing an abortion.. a fetus doesn't equal a human being. Thus, reason tv is misleading here.

Hmm, there isn't a clear, reasonable connection between the choice of abortion and the choices to smoke or drink. To begin with, smoking and abusing liquor is damaging to oneself with potential cost to the taxpayers - through Medicaid for instance. Plus, smoking and drinking can cause harm to others (second hand smoke, driving under the influence, etc).

Geez, I'm pro-choice and nothing like these people. I don't support bans on unhealthy foods, although I do support providing people with easy access to factual information about the health repercussions about eating a poor diet. As someone whose health is actually harmed by fluorescent lights to the point that I have to avoid stores like Walmart that have the super bright ones, I definitely do not support forcing people to use them.

All political parties are united in the fact that they are willing to use aggressive force against peaceful people in order to control their bodies and rob them of the fruits of their labor. If you vote for anyone then you are a part of the problem.
