I understand that you think that it is unkind for you to receive this responses but the song is High School Musical, the first one, Vanessa Anne Hudgens performing as Gabriella, singing in the chemistry lab. People are not stupid to associate a song with its source.

You are misleading in the title, it implies actual words used to express Rachel's feeling. People are disappointed because you did not put that it was a song/ picture video. Their initial reaction is to criticize the song. Sorry.

But that doesn't mean they should judge the video because it has a HSM Song. What if it had a Linkin Park Song or something from the Beatles or some other rock band, or a stupid rap song? They'd go crazy over it.

They are stupid to let their hatred for HSM misleading them. A song is a song, no matter which movie it comes from.

I'm sure they wouldn't have minded if this very song was sang by Rihanna and came from American Pie movies. So yeah, they're stupid.
