Dennis Yerry recorded by Kansas City Digital Video (http://www.kcdv.tv), Michael Morgan and C.J. Scheppers, at the Westport Presbyterian Church.

Comment from Dennis Yerry: "I am playing a Dakota Love song on my B minor flute. The song was lost for almost 50 years before it was brought back by a singer from the Dakotas and given to me as a gift. I am playing it on Earth Day 2006 at the Westport Presbyterian Church, 201 Westport Road, Kansas City, Missouri, 64111, in honor of their Native American celebration."

Dennis Yerry is a versatile native flautist, jazz pianist, composer, arranger and teacher. Dennis Yerry was raised in the Catskill Mountains of New York State. He studied at the State University of NY at New Paltz and privately with keyboard artists Richard Tee, Sharon Freeman and Ronnie Matthews at the Jazzmobile in NYC.

Mr. Yerry, a Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) Native American brings the American Indian perspective on relationships with the earth to schools and university panels in his speaking engagements as well as with his music and actively educates youth in hands-on woodland experiences.

He was musical director, composer and performer for the American Indian Dance Theatre; for the theatrical production of Black Elk Speaks in Denver,CO and L.A.; and the Native American Day of Thanksgiving at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in NYC. Dennis Yerry's flute music was featured in Ken Burn's documentaries, Lewis and Clark and The West.

Dennis Yerry is the founder of the Hawk Project, http://www.hawkproject.com. The Hawk Project was created to promote spiritual awareness and creativity through a blend of Native American music, jazz and free improvisation.

    agreed, beautiful song-

this response not necessarily for you but in general-

Blood quota is a white/colonial tool of oppression- determined by how white a person ISN'T- for all races other than white- think about it. Own your family birthright without the need to justify yourself- You shouldn't have to!
