Mast of the Dorothea, a ship rumoured to have carried Boer Republic gold from Lourenco Marques by smugglers, and sank in 1898 near Cape Vidal, KZN north coast, South Africa.   • Can this be the mast of the Dorothea? I don't think so. All information sources say so, but the barques of the time had solid wooden masts. I do snorkeling trips to this same spot and know that this man made structure is made of iron and is hollow. Perhaps someone else can enlighten us.....
