The "smoke" you see is little tiny wax particles in the air. When you light the wax particles they burst in the air, shown in the video, and when it reaches the wick Zthe wax particles on the wick combust and you get fire! (Wax travels up the wick while it is still on fire, thats how it keeps burning)
