Children in 19th century America were often abandoned due to the increasing amounts of prostitution and financial difficulty of the time. The Sisters of Charity of New York realized this and created a Foundling Asylum, an orphanage which took care of the infants/children and educated them along with providing them a home.

  • this is a classic example of the (so-called) democratic society that we live in which caters to the rich and fameous ,and could care less about the homeless needy uneducated (HALF).nothing has changed . obama thinks the middle class make (less than250,000) .how is that for being isolated from society ?? too bad
