There was nothing bogus about Mt Miguel taking sweepstakes that year... Mt Miguel was in the TOP 5 in music plus they had the highest marching score that day!

Wow! I didn't think I would actually find footage of this. I still have a photocopy of the scoresheet from that day. We were so clean! I remember Mr. A bringing that trophy out every once in a while so we could look at it. Go Marching Matadors!!

I think one thing you notice in these older movies is the 18" (and taller) fuzzy shakos, sometimes called "busbies." Even as a sousaphone player I wore one all the time I marched in high school band.

I remember my band director-at a different school-telling me the results were bogus. That being said, RB, Castle Park, and Poway deserved higher placings, and honestly, Castle Park maybe should have won. BTW, I'm not from Castle Park.
