Complete Survivalist Magazine Review Issue #1

I do not work for complete survivalist, and have not been asked by the magazine to do this review. This review is being done only for the benefit of the viewer. I did receive the magazine for shipping cost only, but that was through a promotion the magazine is doing and anyone can receive the same offer by simply visiting the website.

Warning: If you take the free magazine, you will have to pay a fair price for shipping (less than $2), and your card will be automatically billed for a year's subscription if you do not call and cancel very quickly after receiving the magazine. They are not clear about how much time you have to cancel, and they do not give you a reminder that your card is going to be charged before actually processing the charge. Luckily, I had used a prepaid debit card that I only charge with funds when I need to so their charge did not go through. After emailing the publisher, they were very helpful and friendly and made sure that my card was not charged again unless I called back to order the prescription. Personally, I do not hold this against because:
a) We all make mistakes
b) The shipping of the magazine was delayed due to holidays
c) They were very helpful about the situation, and after talking to them the charge attempts stopped immediately.

I just listen to the ED CORCORIN interview on the Prepper podcast january 12th 2012 best of Prepper podcast. Because of the interview, and the youtube video review of the first issue of the magazine, I am going to subscribe to the magazine now, january 2012.

BTW, the article about "True Currency" was also written by me and I took a lot of flak for that one. To answer the question; the only REAL currency after an economic or societal collapse is not gold or silver. True currency in that situation is anything that's useful or in dire need, such as materials, ammunition, medicine, alcohol, fuel, water, and yes, food (among a lot of other things). When TSHTF and nothing's working anymore, precious metals will take a back seat to NECESSITIES.

Thanks for the review of our first issue, man. I ust became aware of your video today. (this is Ed Corcoran, BTW - Editor and co-creator of the mag) Just to let you know, after the 1st issue we expanded the mag to 48 pages in order to include a lot more info. Issue 1 was kind of an introduction to what we had in mind. If you would be interested in reviewing further issues (whether they be good or bad) I'd appreciate it. Feedback always keeps me on my toes and lets me know what the people want.

@americangamefowl In SHTF me and my 9mm may have to move into the chicken house for chicken thief control. That may keep them a little warmer.

@SustenanceNCovering In SHTF when the electricity stops flowing, living on less eggs will be just about the only option, unless someone had a solar or wind power setup. I still don't think it would be a good idea then because it will put a spotlight on your chickens making it easier for chicken thieves, which will be plentiful after SHTF.
