Here Imam Anwar Al Awlaki has explained present Muslims trial and tribulation. Especially through the global contemporary situation of deception and economical meltdown and so forth.....through Quran and Hadith (Saying of Prophet Muhammed PBUH). They desire to extinguish God's Light with their mouths. But God refuses to do other than perfect His Light, even though the unbelievers detest it. the instance quoted where the fields were burned and the muslims were told that they live on Ghanima (booty) was under difficult conditions, where the Umma was under direct attack and every man was needed to fight (the Bysentine empire). it does not mean that a muslim must only live on war-booty. clearly the christians mentioned already had fields to work on, while the muslims were soldiers who settled near by, which is consistent with muslim settlements/garrisons during campaigns.
