The Flying Carpet Theater's production of The Mystery Of Chung Ling Soo blends mime, dance, live music, and stage illusions to dramatize the life of William Robinson. Beginning with a stylized performance of Mr. Soo's final act, the show then launches itself as a sort of murder-mystery. The performers announce that the chief suspect in Soo's death is his stage manager and illusion builder William Robinson, who has suspiciously disappeared. In flashbacks, the story of Robinson's life unfolds, often punctuated by magic numbers. Check out "The Mystery of Chung Ling Soo" on our new website A wonderful video that gives a good overview of the life and times of Chung Ling Soo. Boris Karloff's narration is also an excellent find. Our theatre company adapted the story of William Ellsworth Robinson into a play entitled "The Mystery of Chung Ling Soo" that explores many of the above mentioned themes.
