@BulbaBryan Yeah which is a shame because Pinkterton was definitely Weezer's creative height. All I've seen in the post-Make Believe albums is Cuomo move on from being a self-pitying teen/20 something into a somewhat smug and self-congratulatory adult. Narcissism being the one constant there.
Don't get me wrong I enjoy Weezer's music, particularly the pre-Maladroit work (+ the "Alone" demo compilations) but I don't see how anyone could say Cuomo's self-obsession isn't the drive behind it all.

@Derekty3 For a band like Weezer, that statement should be true. But it's not and there are clear reasons why. Since Pinkerton more or less bombed commercially, Cuomo has been trying desperately to get mainstream approval. Not since their debut has he allowed his bandmates a say in the songwriting. The band members are no longer even friends. Cuomo even fined a band member for playing out of tune! All of there things are like a repellent to creativity and fun in Weezer's music.
