== Historical Figures of Wuyi Origin ==

It is said that over 100 famous people come from the SiYi (四邑) or WuYi (五邑) Region of Guangdong province, making the region famous for producing more stars than any other city/region in Mainland China. As a result, the local government in Jiangmen which administers the Sze Yap or Ng Yap cities of Taishan (台山), Kaiping (開平), Enping (恩平), Xinhui (新會), and Heshan (鹤山), decided to build a Stars Park called Jiangmen star park (江门星光园).

黎民偉 ● Lai Man-Wai [新會, 廣東] - Father of Hong Kong Cinema

馮如 ● Feng Ru [恩平, 廣東] - Father of Chinese Aviation

梁思成 ● Liang Sicheng [新會, 廣東] - Father of Modern Chinese Architecture; is the author of China's first modern history on Chinese architecture and founder of the Architecture Department of Northeast University in 1928 and Tsinghua University in 1946. He designed the United Nations Building in New York City, the PRC National Emblem and the Monument to the People's Heroes (located in front of Tiananmen Sqaure).

胡蝶 ● Hu Die [鹤山, 廣東] - Empress of Chinese Cinema. She played the leading role in China's first sound film, the Songstress Red Peony.

黃柳霜 ● Anna May Wong [台山, 廣東] - the first Chinese American movie star & first Asian American to become an international star.

梁舜燕 ● Lily Leung [新會, 廣東] - Hong Kong's First TV Actress. She acted in the first ever TV drama series produced in Hong Kong.

易建聯 ● Yi Jianlian/易建聯 [鹤山, 廣東] - NBA basketball player for the Washington Wizards he used to play for the Milwaukee Bucks and the New Jersey Nets. He is viewed by many as the next Yao Ming.

Evan Low [台山, 廣東] - is the mayor of Campbell, California. He is the youngest Chinese & Asian American mayors in the United States.

余智恒 ● Alexander Yee [台山, 廣東] - A Chinese American of Taishanese origin, calculated the World Record Pi (π) to the 5 Trillion digits, using a computer program he developed.
