I have a 10 corolla s. its an ok car if you care nothing about performance or technology. it's one of the few cars left with a 4 speed auto, drum rear brakes, and intermittent wipers not standard. the 35mpg you see on the 1.8 is only cruising at 50mph on a flat road. the car is too heavy for a 132hp engine, but no sense in going to the 2.4 for only a 20hp jump for almost $3000. there are quite a few better options for your money. shop around! even ford is making better cars in this class cheaper

I drove Toyota Corolla "S" from Phoenix AZ to Salt Lake City, UT.

My overall impressions ware good but there are few things I didn't like!

First thing was the Engine. The 1.8L engine has a good torque from 0-30Mph, but in the range from 30-60Mhp it has hard time moving the car!

The second thing was the absence of Stability control! I can't believe that in 2009 models the stability control is not standard! Every time the road gets twisty the car goes off the line! That is very scary!
