The Al Mccray Show,Tampa Bay News & Talk, Mccray talks to his former probation officer, Mr. Paul Wells.
This is a 3 parts interview.
Al Mccray was on probation for 13 yrs for disciplining his step sons.
Paul Wells is very strict with you on you following every letter of your probation guidelines and conditions but is also compassionate.
He knows every trick in the book that folks on probation can pull on probation officers.
He has eyes and every where and will find out ASAP if you violate the law or fail to follow the guidelines of your probation.
Paul tells you like it is and don't play mind games with you.
He is also person who does not let his badge and position get between you on probation and him a decient human being. He will help you get off probation, get housing, educational benefits, and find a job. He real care about treating people he supervises. Respects for those he supervises is a cornerstone with Paul.
While being supervised by Paul Wells, I never lost my pride, dignity or self respect. He treated me very well and honorably. He never talked down to me. He was geniunely concerned with my overall situations in life and offered many ways of helping me.
Because of my previous encounters with probation officers, and the system, I had a very negative atitiude and hostile about probation officers and the whole probation system. When Paul Wells became my probation, I immediately realized that he was different and that he would treat me like a person other than just another person on probation.
When we met the first time, he greeted me by saying, "Hi, Mr. Mccray, I am Paul Wells, I have assigned to work with you and help you on your probation."
Even though I knew what his job was and that he was dedicated to his career, I still could see the decient man in Mr. Paul Wells.
My many dealings with Paul really caused my attitude to change about most probation officers.
Great interview.
