starting up the 240D

I drive a Mercedes-Benz 240D, built in '83, with 295.000 km on the clock, and it's still going very strong.

I have just a litte one question: Why the counter is graduated until 160km/h ?

Well, because it is a 240D. I did manage to get it up to 150 km/h one time, but that was definitely it's top speed ;-)

@bollier38 65-72 hp depending on year modell.. :) get your hands on one you will have a great running cheap car for the next million kms or so.. my -83 240D sat 3 years on a field, fired up just like it was used the day before, everything works too!

my 240D fired up as qick after sitting 3 years! it was around 0*c.. :) now it is in warm garage waiting to restored.

nope, it wasn't, but it would sound just the same! Unfortunately, I don't own the 240D anymore.

if al other interior-lighting works, (i.e. the heating-control) maybe that the speedometer lights are broken. Then you will have to remove the entire speedo and replace the bulbs. If the bulbs are working, you can regulate intensity by manipulating the daycounter-knob. Push it inwards and turn to the right or left to regulate.
