From the first day of 1975 through the last day of 1977, here is the second group of this decade's No. 1 hits in the USA, according to Billboard.

To travel through all three decades in order ('50s, '60s, '70s), click the "Video Response" link on each page.

Billboard Magazine's archives may not include every issue, but can still be very useful: http://www.billboard.com/#/archive
Cash Box Magazine's archives provide every weekly chart for the period covered: http://cashboxmagazine.com/archives.htm

The slide show is some of the top stars of that decade, in alphabetical order (not intended to match up with the audio track).

  • What is the song at 0:46? With the picture of Cher lol

  • @LiiTTleMiiszFamousz "Philadelphia Freedom," by Elton John

  • Why do you include country songs? They should be separated out....that's just weird! Maybe you're so young that you don't know that there was different radio stations then and they didn't mix it up. DUH? I can tell that you're young because you would have know that very few songs crossed over.

  • @sandncee Your comment indicates you, for some unknown reason, think I chose these songs. Wake up and read the fine print! These were the nation's No. 1 hits, in order, according to Billboard magazine. You should send your complaints to them. Yeah, I'm young alright ... but only when I'm in a crowd of folks who are all over 70!

  • why don't you make a song list?

  • Only because of the time it would take; however, if anyone would type it up and e-mail it, I would definitely post it. Still on my to-do list is the same concept (1950s through '79) for the '40s and the '80s. I have the music but not the required time.

Meanwhile, I do provide the link to the actual Cash Box charts (see "more info").

  • It was the time of cross-over rock/country..this list is right on..enjoyed listening

  • Hey "Sandcee", got news for you, MANY songs crossed over during the 70's! Everyone on here was also a number one POP hit! Get you're facts straight, before making a fool of yourself.

  • Hey...I didn't mean to offend but if you check it out, there are country charts and R&B and top 40 at that time. I know it's different now but back then music was really segregated into categories and they didn't cross over. Just sayin'.

  • So many memories, so long ago. thanks.

  • You can listen to this and hear for yourself how LAME the top 40 of the late 70s was compared to the early 70s.
