Looking forward to trying this method of cooking rice. I have had quite a few failures when cooking basmati so I tend to avoid it and stick with long grain. I will have another go now, wish me luck :)

Just made it now.. great to make last minute and the BF is loving it! Cheers Titli

@TitliNihaan Aha! The Chinese way on Basmati makes it mushy, like a romantic comedy. youtu.be / CGSQwzbT2fE

only 2 minuts boiling? I thought that was 15 minuts.
interesting!
Yeah! WOW. I make rice the Chinese way.
Half cup rice to one cup water. Leave lid on for for "15 Mins"!
Do not peek as you let the dragon out and mess up the process...
No water is left at the end but I have to try this method!!

@phatdriver That's a tricky one, petal. How about a Summer Pudding without any added sugar? Or some plain yoghurt with some brambles picked fresh from the hedgerow?

@phatdriver I tried this with Calrose Chinese rice, and it doesn't work. It's too steely. You need a mealy rice like Basmati. I tried this with Basmati and it is indeed perfect.

Wow 2 minutes? Then 5. So e soaking is what makes the rice fluffy and soft enough to cook less yes?
