just use Opera for surfing over EDGE, it really is 5x faster than safari over EDGE (will be slower on Wifi though)

rosslittle is basically right... except... The iPhone will also surf via WiFi which is 10 times faster than 3g. So yes, iPhone is lame when you are out in the wild, but it is great when you are near a wifi hotspot -- which are very common in American Cities.

Just thought Id let you know a few things wrong with this video.
Besides the obvious argument that youre spending more time going through a proxy then you would just going to the web page itself, you are getting a completely inaccurate reading.
The speed you got was that of the google proxy. Thats why the message "not an iPhone" appears.
Google loads the page to its server at 699kbps, and from there, your phone continues to download at its usual rate.

Also, you only have to spend extra time going through the proxy the first time you navigate to the page, after that, you can bookmark the results, meaning you can access the google proxy version of any web-page with one click of a bookmark. Before you say a video is wrong, you really should watch the entire thing. Deufus.
