  • Hi, I've been learning guitar now for maybe 6 weeks and this exercise has done nothing but discourage me :( I simply cannot get my ring and middle finger to separate enough for the higher frets. Even when I force them open with my other hand, moving my middle finger up drags my ring finger along with it. Maybe I just don't have what it takes *cry*

  • @kennyenki You DO have what it takes!!! How long have you practiced this and showed no improvement? This is a very complex exercise, so don't judge your playing on one exercise. It's about music.

  • Wait, I just noticed Sage has some massive scars on his right arm. Darn, what happened?

  • @Bruelockable That's an old Vietnam napalm injury...he's ok now... :-P

  • ...this hurts.

  • @yourguitarsage I have to admit, after 2 weeks of 15 minutes a day I have shown a small improvement up to the fith fret. Past that I still cant make the reach. Ive been watching your videos since day one of my guitar journey and will continue to do so. In sage we trust <3

  • The pain!!!

  • WOW, that is a killer exercise! It feels like I'm stretching the joints, tendons, ligaments, bones, all that stuff in my hand to the point that I'm ripping all that stuff right out of my skin!

  • this is really helpful ! Thanks!

  • Thanks a lot for this, started trying it yesterday and got till the 5th fret only, now I can reach the 4th yay :D Guess what I'll be doing this weekend? FIRST FRET HERE I COME ;)

(I'm way too ambitious, I'm seriously going to spend my weekend doing this)

  • i can't do this ):
