I live in Glasgow and we also have a good public transport network (that said, it has major flaws because of the age; for example there's no link north-south through the city). It's easy to get around and fairly cheap as well so it's simply baffling that people drive in to the city in cars: which when you include petrol and parking, is dearer than the train! (well, for a single person).

I think they should try the "car-surrender" scheme in Glagsow TBH; it is really easy to get around!

there is this BRT project in my city Pune, India. in this project an 8-lane highway in the city was screwed by idiotic engineers in my city, 2lanes on each side are used for buses(one 35-seater bus in 15-20 min is frequency). there are illegal roadside food stalls everywhere. 1 lane on each side is used by customers, so road is 1 by 1 lane. and it is the most major road in the city. please see pics

Yes, I just searched for Pune India and it looks interesting. Wow, I never heard of Pune but you have more people than here in Chicago. Wikipedia says your population of 5 million, but is that in the city limits only or the whole area? A city of your size should have an L train like what we have.
