I remember in like grade 7, all this shit was just ending, few years after Cobain's death. I wasn't into music back then, at 11 and 12 years old, but i remember the "cool" kids always listening to this kinda stuff, SY, Nirvana, Soundgarden, and White Zombie and stuff. Funny thing is, they weren't even into the stuff for real reasons! Back then, no internet, just MTV and radio selling this stuff. The bands were legit - the fans weren't. Found out later I was the actual audience it's for!

related to the top comments* A kid in my class back in highschool used to wear a Goo shirt, so i was like FUCK YEA! SONIC YOUTH IS THE SHIT! only to be let down with a "What, is that a band?" I just laughed, told the guy to go check 'em out; i can't give SY justice using only words.

@DaCUBSstillSuck I know how you feel my favorite bands are Depeche mode, Sonic youth, The Cure, Beck and David Bowie. Most of my classmates haven't heard of any of them
