Oct. 16th 2011 - This video for some reason has got a lot of attention and criticism. Of the latter, some of it is valid, some of it very immature. I will try to clear some stuff up.

This video was part of a connected story. What you do not see in this video is that moments before one of the cyclists was riding on the sidewalk trying to pick a young lady. This was reported by another blog.

I am at fault for using loose descriptions. The video does not show a cyclist getting doored as the title might suggest. Rather it was meant to show how quickly and unexpectedly a door may open on a cyclist. The driver in this case was not aware there were cyclists close by because they did not check for them.

These two cops were in and out the door throughout the ride. In this particular instance they were out of the door zone.

---

These two cyclists were all over the road, swerving in and out around parked cars. One barely has time to avoid being doored. The driver in this incident was not charged. Police only bother with these incidents during "Bike Blitzes", they only occur one week a year in Toronto. The two police officers riding the bicycles in this video did not seem to learn their lesson. They kept ignoring the dangers of their behaviour.

  • Fucking hell, police in the door zone?

  • @gaggotgaggot What you've just said, is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever read. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to _anything_ that could be considered a rational thought.

Put it this way, your response isn't even worth me finishing typing the above quote. Cheers.

  • @gaggotgaggot Riding in a straight line is "All over the road?" Well, I guess you're right, they are riding their bikes ON the road. So I guess technically, they are "all over the road". All over it like a sonovagun! Ride on that road! All over it! Ride it! Oppress it!

So you'd rather have cyclists (many of which run stop signs, traffic lights, don't watch traffic, no courtesy, etc...) weaving in and out of pedestrians on a sidewalk? That's perhaps the most brilliant thing I've ever heard!

  • False advertising. I think you subscribe to a different dictionary than the rest of the world.

The cyclists - at least as shown in the video - were riding exactly where they were supposed to be riding, in the manner they should have been. At a moderate pace and in a straight line, certainly not "all over the road".

The dooring was the fault of the driver not looking in their mirror first before opening their door. They do it here in California all the time.

  • CRAP VIDEO - FAIL.

  • Not even close, so definitely no cigar

  • LOL @ POLICE

  • problem is drivers want you to stay at the far right but at the same time open their doors when they dont hear a car.

  • damn missed him :(
