I'm glad I found your tutorial. I made one of these YEARS ago as part of a special classroom reward in gradeschool and had not thought about Jacob's Ladder until last night when I dreamed about it (among many other odd and silly things from back then).
Now I want to get some materials and make some for the kids in my life.

There are these things that look like hollow screwdrivers that actually accept those tiny nails you are using and all you do is push them into the wood. They are very handy, less awkward and you have much better control of where you want to place them.
