Crazy Cat Eats Paper, has Paper Fetish

For some odd reason my cat Kira loves paper- she has a paper fetish! I don't allow her to eat that much paper, though she trys to get a hold of almost anykind of paper that may be around. I've wondered if paper may be harmful, but have found nothing to suggest it is. She's done this since she was small and has had no adverse reaction to it. Of course, I don't think it's "good" for her to eat, but it's kind of like a treat for her- so yes, she does get a little here and there. Just one of her many quirks! Oh, and her sis Bonney makes an appearance in this video too. :)

Well, no, I don't encourage it, but she's a nuisance whenever I'm working with paper & I may give her a little bit at times...If she showed any signs of distress via throwing-up or having bowel problems, etc. I'd certainly not give her any of it

I think all cats love paper but I don't think eating it is good for them. You should discourage this not encourage it.

i don't encourage it but she's alert to anything involving paper & is right there wanting it & will not leave it alone.. still i do not give her paper to eat very often & when i do it's only a small amount. i've spoken to my vet & others & been told it's not really harmful or anything, but not to let her eat it on a regular basis. i certainly would not do anything to endanger or hurt my furkids. it's like catnip- it's a once in a while treat for her :)

my cat doesn't eat the paper but she does shread any paper product except toilet paper. she shreads cardboard boxes. she shreads my homework. she only does it when i don't pay attention to her though and she gives me the stink eye while she does it. she does, however, eat her own fur bunnies that end up on the floor...disgusting.
