saw this movie when i was 8 or so and was absolutely terrified...../seriously depressed. now that i've read the book hrair times would sorta like to give it another go.....

This is a classic, akin to Animal Farm, and 1984. This is a study in civil liberties and social structures.

Boy, this intro really doesn't give you much of an idea what the rest of the movie will be like (full of graphic violence and lots of bunny rabbits dying horrible bloody deaths).

@Johnlindsey289 I think I was about 8 or 9 when I saw it. It scared me, but compelled me at the same time. Amazing how we seemed to be be so much more advanced in entertainment back in the 80s! We have totally taken steps BACKWARDS today. It's stuff like this that made you think and imagine and expand your mind!

Indeed, how old were you when you saw this movie? i was 12 when i rented it after reading reviews of it in movie review books saying "PG rated animated" and thought it would be cool to see an adult animated movie and it blew me away. The 90's version of this is either Antz or Felidae when it comes to talking animal movies in animation aimed at adults

@evolk8 Good lord, does that sound wrong!
"All the world will be your enemy, Prince of a Thousand enemies. And when they catch you, they will kill you. But first they must catch you; digger, listener, runner, Prince with the swift warning. Be cunning, and full of tricks, and your people will never be destroyed. "
