This is the second cactus I have and it started blooming last week. The flowers on this cactus also only are open at night and die the next day.
Like the first cactus video, this one was made by taking a picture every 10 minutes. This time I continued to take pictures for an entire week a captured the whole bloom cycle. Again I made some close up segments, but the end of the video covers a continuous period of 6 days and 6 nights.

  • Cool Bob! I showed it to everyone in the office after you left today. See you in 6 months.

  • Thanks Marie, and take care :)

  • have you stayed up all night or something? ^^ or is it automatically?

Whatever, I have to say that's beautiful!

  • Mjattie, ya the camera was set to automatically take a picture everyday 10 minutes for 7 days. I wasn't even home when most were taken. Thanks for the comment :)

  • I LOVE this, thanks so much for sharing ALL your wonders :)

  • Awesome. I had one of these plants.

  • WowowowowWOOOOO!!!!

  • We have a night blooming cactus that we have had growing in our house for about, 25 years total. The thing is huge, and when it blooms it fills the air with the scent, I cant discribe it, but its wonderfull when it wakes you up at night, wonderfull in the moonlight when its snowing...

  • I was wondering the same thing. It must, because all good bees would be tucked safely in their hives at that hour :)

  • Woooooow!

  • Amazing - I mean truly amazing.....

Nature at it's best, and bravo to you for filming it...the music fits the blooming perfect.....

    xoxo Char

  • That was great. Does this plant self pollinate? I was half expecting to see moths or bats around it.
