  • So what would you say the difference in temperature is between inside the polytunnel and outside? I'm thinking of making a living structure of a similar design.

  • The temp diffrerence can be as little as 5degrees in the winter to 40 degrees in the spring/summer. The biggest problem in this tunnel design is condensation.

  • omg cleaning they plastic is gonna take so long! carfull with what you use to clean it to if its to abrasive the scratches might damage the surface and not let in as much light... is it time cost efective to clean it rather then just go buy some more on your next trip to the mainland or am i being naive?

  • Actually, a hose with a car-brush attachment, some vinegar and eco-safe soap made with grapefruit, in a bucket were all it took to clean the poly. It didn't even take much elbow-grease. But I got very wet on a very cold day. Total time to clean was only about 45 minutes and that included going back over a few tough areas. Replacing good plastic would not have been cost effective or sustainable.

  • If you had used PVC glue it would not have fell apart.

  • Guys, all I hear is keep it cheap, cheap, cheap but on the long run it's cost a lot more in repairs esp. All the extra labour?? Do it right first time, cheaper in the long run.

  • I'm putting together a hoop house now (I'm in So. Vermont). With our snow loads, I built it with 1/ 3/8" steel tubing (chain link fence top rail tubing), 10.5' pieces and bought a pipe bender for about $60. The hoops are strong enough to hang from. But I know that you're on a strict budget and want to keep it cheap. If we were close by, i'd surely give you a bunch of extra steep pipe I have lying around. Cheers.

  • Condensation? How so?

  • Man, I need a nap.

  • The hammer stapler is so cool . I want one . Have to find a job for it first lol
