@Andytheminstrel I'm a classical guitarist at Eastern Kentucky University. I, like you, started playing by ear until I enrolled in college. If you can already read the notes on treble clef, and are simply wanting to read faster, you need to really familiarize yourself with those notes on the guitar and understand the range, and simply spend 60% of your practice time sight reading. Like my professor says, if you can sight read perfectly you will never have to practice.

John Myung, you play so beautifully.

Great playing. Do you have any recommendations for learning how to read sheet music? I play largely by ear, but I want to study music in college and I need to learn how to read notes. I know the notes for the treble and bass scales, but it takes me a long time to read them. Any suggestions?

@psycacti Lower G string half tone and you have lute tunning. Then the intenet is full of lute tablatures for free.

Daijobu! i'll show you how to play the way we used to play in the renaissance:thumb-Under-instea
d of using middle and index finger for passages we use thumb and index-thumb is under index and fingers are quazi-parallel to the strings instead of perpendicular.Put neck almost parallel to ground. In renaissance's very important to alternate "strong" and "weak" note on passages-this is provided by thumb/index altrantion.Classical index/middle does not do this.Best to you! -
amazing. where did you get the music from? i have a transcription for guitar that is close, but yours is more beauty.

That was beautiful, KoseiKubota. Is that piece anonymous? Who composed it? Great performance.
