A new medical report suggests that those with a vitamin D deficiency are at a higher risk of having a heart attack or contracting a cardiovascular disease. Medical correspondent Dr. Jon LaPook reports.

  • The current daily RDA for vitamin D (400-600 IU) is way

    too low. The doctor (Jon LaPook) mentions taking too much

    vitamin D can be harmful yet does not say at what levels

    does it become toxic.

  • such BS to say that more than 400 or 600 IU of Vitamin D causes Vit. D toxicity.

    in fact most people need much more!

    vitamin d toxicity may show up at levels above 30.000 or 40.000 IU each day over longer period of time...

  • @TimewarpLabs 1 IU of vitamin D3 is only 0.025mcg (microgram) . I have seen vitamin D3 products contain 2000 IU, which is only 50mcg or 0.050mg. Even if we do 10,000 IU (multiply by 5) that is still only 250mcg or 0.25, 1/4 mg.

    So 400 or 600 IU that would only be 10mcg or 15mcg. So he said beyond 400 or 600 IU of vitamin D, your body would have vitamin D toxicity? I doubt it.

  • Medical correspondents will say anything to keep the money rolling in.

  • There is no toxicity with vitamin D, that doctor is not going to mention that, after all they are connected to big pharma.

  • of course he works for big pharma why the hell would he say such bullshit plus sunlight is the best source of vitamin D and Vitamin D helps cure the cancer but sunlight is only a risk to those with very poor health but if you are taking vit d and half way healthy the sun has more benifits than cancer risk!

  • that doctors name should be LaPoo, cause that's what hes talking, its very difficult to get vitamin D toxic, he should know that, that stupid idiot, he must work for the drug companies.

  • Experts now are saying to take 2,000 IU to 4,000 IU of the D3 form of Vitamin D.

    Humans (Whites in particular) make at least 10,000 units of vitamin D within 30 minutes of full body exposure to the sun.

    Lethal levels of toxicity occur when you obtain 20,000 IU/kg of weight. Or for a 110 lb person to take roughly 100,000,000 IU of Vitamin D.
