At a hotel in Overland Park, KS, we ran into a similar problem with a Zenith H2530Y Concierge Series TV. We had a portable DVD player and wanted to hook it up to the TV. The audio and video in RCA ports on the back seemed inaccessible using our "Guest Remote."

Upon further investigation, we discovered that the buttons from the master remote were disabled only by the cover of the remote. We popped off the cover using a dime. The button between Timer and Alarm opens up the menu, and the right and left buttons beneath the Ch Preview button are for adjusting.

So, we're going to search for channels and hope that it finds the RCA inputs on the back. In order for this to work, you must first unplug the RF cable. Additionally, you're going to search within the Cable-TV input. If you've done things correctly, it will search and find 0 channels. Then, it will default to the Aux channel, which is what you want.

  • still have a split image on dvd play. used the 999 cause it is easier because i have the tv in a rental and users are not likely to be able to deal with anything too complicated (nor should they have to. i am really thankful for your efforts to solve this problem and also like the suggestion to post a solution to anything someone is able to solve so that everyone shares as in the true internet tradition

  • There is an easy way to do this just press the button next to caption and then channel down until you see aux then press the same button till it says add next to aux and there you go no unhooking cables and you don't have to destroy the remote and who the fuck has an extra pad with the extra buttons to use if you do decide to destroy their remote

  • I think I figured out an alternative. I was having the same problems, so i just started pressing buttons in random sequences until something happened. I discovered if you have your xbox or whatever running and plugged in, and you open menu then channel down while menu is up, it should bring you to the aux channel. Hopefully this works for anyone else with this problem!

  • Thanks, I've used this method, even without the remote trick and just using the front face buttons of the tv, on several sets in several hotels. Great vid, and keep it up,

  • Is this hotel Holiday Inn?

  • Still trying to get it working, but I ran into the same problem and found this video. I'm like 90% sure I'm in the same hotel in overland park. Seriously small world.

  • Great vid guys!

  • Thanks for posting this! This worked on an older Zenith Concierge. The panel on the tv with the buttons looked like the one in this video. I was able to use those buttons to access the menu to do the channel search. The remote had hidden buttons too.

  • Dude, you just saved our weekend. we have a hockey tournament with lots of time in between games and needed some ps3. Dude thank you so much your a genius!! btw im pretty sure we are in the same hotel as you.

  • Thanks you!!!!!
