Can-I-B.I.S. records is an italian indipendent label founded in Bergamo in 2010.
The acronym B.I.S. concerns the 3 members of the label. B is for Bonnot, a young Italian composer and producer who cooperates with some of the most important Italian and international artists (from the rappers Assalti Frontali, Caparezza and M1-Dead Prez, to the jazzists Paolo Fresu and Tino Tracanna). I and S are for I-trees and Shanty, or rather two of the more working reggae sound systems in Italy: from 2003 they take their explosive dj sets and their accurate and original selections starting from Bergamo, and spreading all over Italy and Europe, finding positive feedbacks everywhere. In 2006 they also have co-founded Bergamoreggae, a crew and a cultural association which unites all Bergamo reggae fans to promote greater and greater events (as the legendary 4 editions of "Bergamoreggae Sunfest", the unique upbeat festival ever in the story of their town).
The label was born in 2010 to give vent to the 2 sound systems need for promoting worldwide original fresh and exciting productions . To follow out their mission they "dare" Bonnot to take a stab at a musical genre nearly new for him, but full of stimulus and motivations.
Bonnot responds to the challenge and he materializes the 2 sounds ideas into music. He's able to realize some unique tracks collecting all his musical background (developing from rock, hip hop, electro and jazz) and harmonizing it inside some groundbreaking upbeat sounds.
Here we have THC riddim, the first label release. I-trees and Shanty send the "made-for-jumping " instrumental version, to some Italian, European and Jamaican artists for singing over some ganja tunes.
From Ward 21's "Weed" to General Levy's "Highest grade", to the Junior Sprea's "L'erba della zia" and the Virtus' "Bun 'till a morning", the rhythm enshrouds, arouses and shatters listeners minds and bodies.
After excellent sales by all principal global vynil distributors (like Soundquake, ReggaeRecord and Ernie B), the complete digital compilation is coming out.
