Turning Point: Parenting Education (Ramona)

My name is Ramona. I'm 23 years old. My husband and I have been married for five years and have four children together. I had my first child when I was 16, so there was a lot to learn. I participate in the YWCA Young Parent Program and am so thankful to have Marcy as my case manager. She has been a great help.

My husband and I both work, but this past Christmas was very hard for us. Our 4-year-old, Arianna, was born with a heart defect. She needed surgery right before Christmas and will possibly need a heart transplant. At the same time, I was on bed rest with our fourth daughter, who is a high risk pregnancy. Even though our family has been through Arianna's surgeries before, it was so hard to have this one at Christmas. I really appreciated having Marcy for support and guidance.

Since I was on bed rest, my husband had to miss several days of work to take us to doctor appointments. With money so tight, we weren't going to be able to give the girls a good Christmas. I was so thankful when a donor from the YWCA stepped in to make sure the girls had plenty of gifts to open Christmas morning.

Thank you so much for all the help that the YWCA has provided our family. It has truly been a blessing.
