M. Boneco's song for Mestre Peixinho

Filmed at CBLA during class on May 16, 2011, the day after the great Mestre Peixinho past away. Mestre Boneco played his berimbau and sang a song in honor of Mestre Peixinho. The song was spontaneous, you could feel the energy of Mestre Peixinho in the room, so moving. Mestre Boneco said much more after we finished taping. He spoke of Mestre Peixinho's game and how smooth and elusive he was, how amazing he was as a musician and as a teacher....how he made really great berimbaus and atabaques...how watching Mestre Peixinho and Mestre Camisa play many years ago was truly amazing, saying that their games complimented each other...Mestre Peixinho was a huge influence in the Capoeira community, a godfather to Capoeira Brasil, a leader and a friend. Mestre Boneco said Mestre Peixinho died like a warrior, strong till the end.




Mestre Peixinho we honor your memory, your contribution to the art of Capoeira and promise that your legacy will be long and lasting. Thank you for your lifetime of energy and inspiration. We are blessed to have known you.
