  • When Weissenberg reconfigured his piano technique for ten years, was there a noticeable difference in his playing when he performed after the hiatus? I've always admired him (in truth, I've always had a crush on him).

  • Shame EMI classics has not released his recording of the entire Carnaval (many recordings of his have not been released for that matter).

  • Someone should post this entire video! Imagine how interesting compare all these interpreters.

  • @morvensky Lost my vinyl of Carnaval & Sonata in G Minor decades ago and I regret it every day. I sent a pleading letter to EMI. :=).

  • why two pianos?

  • Though having Cherkassky and Lazar Berman also playing was not exactly chopped liver. (and I am a HUGE W. fan)

  • Yes! This idea was played out at a Steinway appreciation event in the 80's. Other pianists pitching in for Carnaval included Cherkassy and Cliburn, but of course Weissenberg was a real coup for the event.

  • Interesting!

Is each movement played by a different pianist?
