http://www.EmploymentCrossing.com San Franciscos Heller Ehrman & Thelen has dissolved after possible mergers fell through. And Powell Goldstein, which has been a prominent firm in Atlanta since 1909, will no longer exist next week. Finally, PoGo partners voted last week to approve an acquisition by Bryan Cave, and BC will announce the acquisition on Monday. Heller Ehrman LLP was an international law firm of more than 650 attorneys in 14 offices in the United States, Europe, and Asia. In September, the firm encountered troubles after losing 15 intellectual property partners to Covington & Burling, which may then have led to collapse of merger talks with Mayer Brown. On September 25th, the firm confirmed its dissolution for the end of November. The union between St. Louis, Missouris Bryan Cave and PoGo is not a "merger" so much as it is a buy-out. Insiders have reported that nobody from PoGo -- not staff, not associates, not even partners -- is safe. Equity partners could be let go early next week. Rumors about PoGo's demise have been circulating for some time, since the firm reported layoffs this past summer. Click here for more information on legal jobs in your area.
