Gene Autry (5 Star) - Back In The Saddle Again

This great song was written by Gene as well as many, many others. Folks don't remember or realize that this man is the only entertainer with 5 stars on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame. (Some have said it was because he owned the sidewalk, but in truth it was talent, talent, talent.)

Your taste in music parallels mine in many ways, Charlie. Pretty good was Gene Autry as well. In another music genre (modern word!) we've both had our say on who was the best crooner - you say Bing Crosby, I say Al Bowlly - guess we'll have to agree to disagree on that one. @navydoctrinidad Thanks, Charlie. I just finished reading Gene's autobiography. There was no bluster about the man - just a nice, unassuming guy. I hear they're finally going to release his entire TV series on DVD. High time, too!

Thanks to the Westerns Channel some years back, I "discovered" this fellow named Gene Autry. I started watching his TV show & was amazed to find Pat Buttram, who I previously knew only as Mr. Haney from Green Acres, was his sidekick! There was something about Gene's easygoing charm and pleasant voice that immediately hooked me. I had to see more! That was about 10 yrs ago and I've been a fan ever since. So, thank you, cable TV for introducing this "city slicker" from Brooklyn to Gene Autry.

This used to be me and my grandpas show, i would stay at his house until my mom came to get me from there and every day i came home from school he would record this in the morning until i got there. We would watch it and it was probally the only western i actually liked. I cried when i watched this, it brought back so many memories. He died from cancer in about 5 weeks, he never knew he had it it just all of a sudden came up. Rip Mark Smith.
